Mr Micheál Keane is originally from Co. Clare, Ireland and currently resides in Co. Cork, Ireland.
He holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Limerick, Ireland. Mr Keane has 8 years’ industrial experience ranging from initial concept work through to manufacturing.
Mr Keane’s previous industrial experience was based in the microfluidics, biotechnology and medical device sectors. Prior to joining the OrthoXel Team, Mr Keane previously worked in Medtronic Vascular, Curran Scientific, Gencell Biosystems, Stryker Instruments and Depuy Synthes. These roles were Manufacturing and product development focused
In 2009, he joined biotechnology start-up Curran Scientific/Gencell Biosystems (now BD Gencell) in Limerick as the company’s second employee after its owner and helped grow the company. He worked in Manufacturing, Prototype Development, Concept Development, Product assembly, CNC milling, Fluidic system design, IP development and R&D.
In 2012, he moved to Cork to join the Product Development team in Stryker Instruments as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer. Working on projects based in Neuro, Spine and ENT burs he accumulated product and process development experience. He specialised in 6 axis CNC grinding and Laser marking and led the process development of the MIS 1.5 Signature bur product from beginning through to manufacturing.
In Depuy, He worked as a contractor where he gained experience in the Orthopaedic sector and expanded business knowledge in the area of tibial trays.
