Richie is originally from Co. Waterford, Ireland and moved to Cork in late 2008.
He holds a degree in Production Technology Management from the University of Limerick and just recently completed a part time Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the Cork Institute of Technology. He has 15 years industrial experience across various sectors including aerospace, automotive and nine years in medical devices.
After graduation from University of limerick, Richie completed the two-year Airbus UK Direct Entry Graduate Scheme in Bristol, UK. This was followed by a permanent role in the Advanced Manufacturing Technology department which focused on the development and implementation of aircraft wing assembly technology.
On moving to Australia in 2005 he joined the NPD / Process Engineering Department at Denso Australia based in Melbourne. The department was responsible for introducing new air conditioning and HVAC products to support the Australian car market.
On returning to Ireland Richie joined the Process Development team in Boston Scientific. Primarily working in the Neurovascular space, he was involved in the launching of embolic coil, balloon catheter and flow diverter technologies. Post divestiture to Stryker, Richie held senior Process Development and R&D roles within Stryker Neurovascular.
Most recently as a contractor in DePuy Synthes, Richie worked on developing and launching new tibial tray and hip stem implants.
